Based upon a study of twins in their 70s, investigators report that the younger-looking twin will live significantly longer – marking the first time anti-aging researchers have linked youthful appearance with longevity.
It seems obvious, that a younger appearance is predictive of greater longevity. But up till now there has been no science to back up this observational assumption. Volunteers were asked to guess the age of 1826 twins age 70-years or older. It is widely known that chronic exposure to unfiltered sunlight, chronic use of tobacco (which depletes vitamin C), and poor diets, can cause people to look older, says the report. Each of these factors impair the ability of the body to make hyaluronan (H.A.), a water-gelling molecule that resides within the collagen matrix of the human body which produces smooth skin, thick hair and flexible joints. In short, hyaluronan promotes a youthful appearance. Young children and menstruating females exhibit high levels of H.A.
The twin who looks older than their calendar age and older than their twin are likely to die sooner, according to the study, published in the British Medical Journal. [Source: British Medical Journal Volume 339: pages b5262, December 2009]
Oral hyaluronan is absorbed in sufficient quantity to stimulate fibroblast cells to produce youthful levels of H.A., a fact that is now established after many years of use of oral H.A. dietary supplements.
Longevinex Advantage&trade is the first oral H.A. supplement to combine resveratrol with hyaluronan. Resveratrol addresses cellular aging, hyaluronan addresses aging of the connective tissue that connects cells.
